Route 1 - PDF and PostScript Files
Follow these checks to enable your job to run through smoothly . . . click to print page

In General
Please do

  • provide your files in PostScript Level 1, 2 or 3, or PDF 1.2, 1.3 or 1.4
  • embed all your fonts, including any special characters
  • use high resolution images in the PostScript or PDF files
  • supply no more than one job per disk

Please don't

  • use colour images in a file intended for black and white work
  • leave errors uncorrected
  • supply application files for direct CTP production
  • use lines less than 25 microns in thickness

Supplying Files - Please

  • supply us with a pagination list showing the pages in each file
  • use logical file names
  • use multi page files with a maximum of 128pp per file
  • ensure that blank pages are blank
  • provide pages in numerical order within each file
  • supply pages that are properly orientated - landscape or portrait
  • save as single pages - never as double page spreads
  • if you supply proofs, output them from the Final PostScript or PDF file - they may be used for reference but will not be checked for content
  • save your files onto CD-R, 100Mb Zip disks or 3.5" floppies

Page Details - Please

  • Ensure that all pages are correctly positioned in their grid and in relation to each other as we cannot move or reposition individual pages
  • Where bleeds are required, the minimum bleed must be at least 3mm
  • Ensure that all crop marks are placed outside the bleed area
  • We prefer 133 lpi for half tone screens - contact us if your requirements differ
  • Mechanical diagram tints to be a minimum of 10%, going up in steps of 10% to a maximum of 70%
  • Please generate images for monochrome work as black and white, not "monochromed" colour images
  • Type and non-bleeding images to be no closer than 5mm from book trims
  • The number of colours in the digital data should match Publishers order
  • Ensure that the Trim sizes are correct

Reprints - please

  • supply corrected pages for Reprints via e-mail or on disk - not camera ready copy
  • send E-mail files to your Account Executive
  • supply Correction Pages as single page files

And Finally - please

  • ensure that data has been supplied as PDF or PostScript
  • ensure that the correct number of files have been copied to the CD
  • check that CD is readable and contains the correct files
  • view the final PDF data to check that all is OK

Route 2 - Data From Other Sources
We are able to take data from a variety of sources such as Desk Top Publishing Applications, Databases, Spreadsheets and Word Processing Programs. Please contact Tracy Humphrey to arrange a consultation with one of our Technical Team to agree a method of data supply and any extra charges.
